I used the analyzer tool that the Understanding Doc links to.

I am suggesting they add to the software, an additional algorithm for
dithered images where they sample several pixels and average them rather
than simply forcing the user to choose one pixel. Perhaps that that could be
triggered by a control that says something like “settings for measuring
dithered images”.
