The following is a list (in no particular order) of differences between the proposed wording for Guideline 2.4 [1] and the current wording (also available in [1]. * Eliminates word- and page-count as triggers for L2 SC1 * Treats each item as a separate SC instead of alternative cases within a specific SC. This is consistent with previous changes to Guideline 1.1 SC1 (as reflected in the current internal WD [2])and eliminates or reduces confusion where separate requirements for individual pages and collections of pages were included within the same item. This is true for both L2 SC1 and L3 SC3. The result is that there are more SCs in the proposed wording but (I hope) they are easier to understand and test. * Clarifies and simplifies wording wherever possible, consistent with earlier efforts toward plain language. * Tries out the term "perceivable unit"derived from Device-Independence WG Glossary [3] See proposed L2 SC 2 and L3 SC4. * Uses the term "determined programmatically" for consistency with other SC in the guidelines doc. (L3 SC1) * Adds an L2 success criterion about detailed views for complex images (to support General Techniques for zoomable/alternative views of complex images) * Changes "hierarchical structure" to "explicit structure" under L2 SC1 * Consolidates "site map" and "laternative navigation mechanisms" in the same SC *L2); the alternative navigation mechanisms listed in the Glossary all appear to be variants of the site map, and will be discussed in General Techniques. * Eliminates an SC about "alternative display order'" for pages (current wording in L2 SC1.c) because I couldn't understand it * Changes "diagrams" to "images" under L3 SC2 because there is no reason to limit the call for structured images to a specific type of image * Deletes requirement about non-hierarchical relationships (L3 SC3) because it appears to be redundant with 1.3 L1 SC1 [1] http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/w3c-wai-gl/2004OctDec/0199.html <http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/w3c-wai-gl/2004OctDec/0199.html> 2] http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/WCAG20/ [3] http://www.w3.org/TR/di-gloss/#def-perceivable-unit "Good design is accessible design."
