aloha, wendy! good lord willin' & the crick don't rise (yet again), i plan on being in amsterdam that week in june, not only for the GL meetings, but the AU and ER meetings, as well... personally, i wouldn't mind attending a suite of WAI face2face meetings that week in june, which means that i'd prefer not to have overlapping meetings, such as those that were held surrounding the W3C plenary this february/march, save for when WGs are scheduled to meet in concert... i just think it is detrimental to the entire effort to force participants to choose between working groups at a common face2face venue----i'd rather attend four or five day's worth of meetings and get a hell of a lot accomplished (especially after traveling a distance) than to have to choose between working group meetings, even if i spent a day or 2 as an observer... moreover, i think that the WAI as a whole would benefit from allowing members of other WAI/W3C working groups to sit in on face2face meetings when their WG isn't meeting, or when they live close enough to the venue for it to be practical--it worked well for the User Agent WG at the plenary, and would do much to promote cross-fertilization of ideas, as well as providing observers with a clearer picture of WG dependencies, as well as providing a palpable sense of what progress other groups are making... yes, this will stretch out the timespan for those with multiple WG membership, and may leave idle time for those with only limited cross-over, but that is a better pickle in which to be than holding an F2F where a quorum can't be raised... that's what happened to AU at the february/march plenary--so many of its members were siphoned off by the GL/ER and UA meetings, when it came time to hold the AU face2face meeting, only 3 working group members--the chair, the group's staff contact, and an ATAG editor--were in attendance... or at least, so i heard--i was next door at the UA face2face... gregory. ------------------------------------------------------------- SELF-EVIDENT, adj.
