Hello Everyone, I'm excited to have joined EOWG and am looking forward to being a proactive member. I have to admit, I have read several other introduction emails and am in awe of all of you. I wanted to join EOWG because I like training people and humanising the checkpoints to be relatable. I was first interested in making websites and applications accessible from witnessing the struggle of my blind friend trying to turn on her music player. She needed a tool (me) to give the media player focus and it seemed daft that a simple task blocked her from listening to music when she wanted. My first experience of accessibility testing was ADA tests with JAWS for Oracle in 2001. Since those early days I learnt a lot through talking to users affected by inaccessible offerings, and, working on my own knowledge through courses and self learning. I have worked on accessibility in all of my roles as a tester until 2013 when I immersed myself completely by creating an accessibility offering for Applause. I am now working for Deque Systems Inc, where I aim to continue learning and growing by joining EOWG! I look forward to e-meeting you all soon.
