Introduction

Hello EOWG Members,

Last week I officially joined the Education and Outreach Working Group, and
I'm looking forward to working with you all and contributing to the
important work this group is responsible for. This is a brief introduction
to me.

I began designing and developing websites in the late 1990s and eventually
found my way to standards-based web development a few years later while
working at a publisher in Philadelphia. I then worked for an agency called
Happy Cog where we focused exclusively on delivering standards-based sites
for clients across many different sectors. There, I led Project Management
and later directed all of our Client Services.

Accessibility was always a part of the work we were doing, but I didn't get
deeply involved and passionate about it until late 2011 after I suffered a
medical event that made accessibility a much more personal issue. In 2012,
I was fortunate to work alongside Sharron Rush at Knowbility and others on
a large-scale health insurance web project.

After a couple of years of working closely with a number of people and
teams on challenging (and fun!) accessibility projects, I began to share my
perspective with others in the design and development industry at
conferences and via web project work with peers. Now, I'm a jolly member of
the Knowbility team as a Senior Web Accessibility Consultant.

I live in Fort Collins, Colorado with my wife and two young boys. We like
to get outside as much as we can, and I enjoy bicycling, beer, and the
Waffle House.

Thanks for having me in the EOWG. I'm excited to participate!
