The third faq answer says: "A number of open source JavaScript toolkits already implement ARIA techniques, and support by browsers and assistive technologies is increasing. A list of ARIA implementations is available - where ?-" This speaks to my main (over-cynical?) response to the entire issue: When? I would like to see some move towards encouraging W3C member companies who make the browsers most everyone must use be more active participants in this process. In a world wherein even CSS has taken about ten years to be usefully included in browsers, it's hard to work on the details of implementation when the prospects of meaningful inclusion are so elusive. Having said that, I will now start to try to study the quite excellent document with respect rather than skepticism. It seems at first reading to be almost entirely about JavaScript (I wonder what happened to the idea of calling it ECMAScript?), which I personally never got into but I understand that removing the barriers to widget access matters to our clientele. It might do to expand on the notions "role" and "state" in this document else its appeal will be too narrow? Love.
