WAI-ARIA FAQ new question: "What should developers do now?"

Hi Sharron & EOWG,

I think if we do release the FAQ in December (and the other WAI-ARIA documents are published later), we probably want to have a question like:
Q: What should Web site developers do with WAI-ARIA now?
A: Watch for new documents in early 2008. The WAI-ARIA Best Practices Guide is being developed to provide guidance for Web content developers and authoring tool developers on implementing ARIA in Web sites, applications, and tools. A Public Working Draft of the WAI-ARIA Best Practices Guide may be available in early 2008. Some techniques for using ARIA technologies are already available in the ARIA Techniques section of Techniques for WCAG 2.0.

(Then we'd update that question with the publication of the new docs.)

Right now I'm thinking that we do not want to say much more about the new Primers or the restructuring of the specs -- it doesn't seem like it's important for people to know that in advance. Open to other ideas, though...

EOWG continues to work on the FAQ, and a revised draft will be posted next week to http://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/Drafts/ARIA/faq.html I expect it will be ready for your (PFWG) review sometime in December. I'll keep you up-to-date on that.

Also, fyi, I'm watching the timing of when things will be done, and thinking about what we want to say when. E.g., if the FAQ will be done in Dec do we want to release it? with or without announcements? Do we want to include an update on WAI-ARIA, e.g., along the lines of [1] and [2]? Do we want the FAQ and the Overview to continue to outline the previous/current documents, or foreshadow the plan for the next release (e.g., the Primer(s) and the combined spec)? If you have any thoughts, let me know. Otherwise, I'll let you know when mine solidify. :)

Have a great weekend!

~Shawn
