My comments.... *Accessibility Issues - Term: Tree Controls* Instead of saying tree controls, can we say expandable navigation? The sentence would be... "Web sites are increasingly using more advanced and complex user interface controls, such as expandable navigation like the example in Figure 1." I really like the figure. A wish list item would be to make it some type of animation that you could play... showing it expanding and closing. This would drive it home even more. It's hard to show the dynamics of some of these items with a screenshot. *Accessibility Issues - What WAI ARIA addresses* This sentence is harder to wrap your head around... "WAI-ARIA addresses these accessibility challenges by defining how information about these features can be provided to assistive technology." This sentence makes perfect sense: "More specifically, ARIA provides a framework for adding attributes to identify features for user interaction, how they relate to each other, and their current state." Are the WAI ARIA attributes going to ever be in anything other than HTML, like SVG? If not, can we say, "More specifically, ARIA provides a framework for adding HTML attributes..."? *WAI ARIA Suite Section* The first paragraph seems pretty redundant with the previous section. We have a list and small descriptions of what's in the WAI-ARIA suite and then we have a whole section of what's in the WAI ARIA suite... would it be possible to condense this down a bit? *Who WAI-ARIA is for* Maybe in addition to or instead of this section, we could have a "Status of WAI-ARIA section". It'd be near the top? As a developer, it'd quickly tell me whether this is something I should pay attention to. WAI-ARIA Documents Discuss WAI-ARIA documents from an education and outreach perspective. a. Accessible Rich Internet Applications Suite (WAI-ARIA) Overview * Draft version: http://www.w3.org/WAI/intro/aria-new.php (Note: the figure is not visible in some browsers yet.) Questions about this updated version: - Is it clear who the WAI-ARIA documents are for? - Does it provide a basic introduction for a broad audience? - What would be the pros and cons (advantages and disadvantages) of integrating the audience from the section "Who WAI-ARIA is for" up above with the bulleted list of documents? (Note that all of the other WAI guidelines Overview documents have that Who it is for section, and so one disadvantage would be breaking the similar format.) - How does the figure work to help illustrate a tree control for navigation? - Should we add another figure to illustrate user actions updating Web content?
