Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities GPDD SOLICITATION FOR THE GLADNET INFOBASE In Support of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Dear GLADNET Members and Users of the GladMail network list serv: GLADNET (the Global Applied Disability Research and Information Network on Employment and Training) is launching a new initiative, with funding from the International Labour Organization, to support the implementation of the new United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The initiative will involve the development of a repository, on the GLADNET InfoBase hosted at Cornell University, USA, of practical, user-friendly materials on different aspects of disability, training and work/employment which have been developed in different countries around the world for use by organizations and agencies dealing with disability issues. Examples of topics to be covered are recruiting people with disabilities, a rights-based approach to disability, the social model of disability, reasonable accommodation, accessibility, job retention, return to work, alternative forms of employment, awareness-raising, women with disabilities, habilitation/rehabilitation, persons with disabilities and productivity, etc. The repository will also include information, on good practices in these areas. Our aim is to gather this material in collaboration with the entire GLADNET community. In the first stage of the initiative, we will focus on materials in English language. Can you please provide us with any of following materials on disability- related issues, developed for use by policy-makers and practitioners : * Practical guides * Existing checklists * Tools * Information sheets * Brochures * Fact Sheets Can you also provide GLADNET with the names and/or e-mails of people at organizations, public agencies etc. that have this type of information available. Finally, if permission is needed to use certain materials or if there are copyright issues, kindly inform us and/or tell us how to obtain the information about use of the materials. We thank you in advance for your assistance with this project and we look forward to your prompt replies. If you need any further information, please contact Susanne Bruyère, GLADNET Chair at e-mail smb23@cornell.edu . PLEASE SEND ALL INFORMATION TO: Sara Van Looy at e-mail sav22@cornell.edu .
