My very cursory notes for October 29th meeting: Present: Judy Brewer, Phill Jenkins, Heather Swayne Katie Haritos-Shea Jutta Treviranus Regrets: Charles Jan 1) Accessible Portal Authoring For a description of Portals see the web site www.cren.org. Jutta gave brief description of technology. Authors include: tool creators portal administrators channel administrators users Personal preferences presently includes colours, font size, number of columns, channels and channel content. Phil- should also include Access Key preferences Phill- will check on IBM Portal technology and conduct ATAG conformance evaluation Heather- will investigate Microsoft Portal technology Heather will check if there is consistent DTD or schema for expressing user preferences at Microsoft. Judy will investigate whether P&F is looking at user preference standards. 2) Katie will complete previously committed action item to look at access to mail programs. Had been waiting for input from Gregory. Heather will submit notes on improving navigation within mail archives. 3) Group divided on whether techniques section required on accessible synchronous communication. Judy will bring this to Coordination meeting. E&O may create technical note that can be referred to by other groups. Phill to investigate event planning software used for web casting and other planned synchronous events 4) Judy will investigate alternative bridge to overcome problems with present MIT bridge. We will be meeting today to discuss the new techniques catagories: 1) Accessible Portal Authoring 2) Accessible Mail Archives 3) Strategies for encouraging accessible synchronous authoring Phone +1.617.258.7910 The usual time, noon Boston time.
