Dear Sir/Madam,
I'm an Software Architect in China SOA Design Center, IBM China
Developement Lab. I'm leading a team to write a book in Chinese, Service
Oriented Computing - Technologies, Specifications and Standards, based on
our experience in this area, the technologies developed by the industry and
acdemia, and speficiations and standards defined by various stardard
organizations. It's mainly for university students and software engineers
in China to systematically understand the architecture, latest
techonologies and specifications for their courses, thesises and daily
works.
For limitation of page numbers, we are introducing each technical topic
with a group of technologies and specifications for the topics summarized.
In some chapters, Some standards and specifications as Technical Report
(TR) defined by W3C are referenced . Because the standards and
specifications defined by W3C are the "bible" of Web Services, such as
WS-Policy and WS Architecture. For keeping the original and classical
definition and better understanding the contents by readers, we are trying
to translate and include some basic concepts, typical explaination and
samples from W3C specifications in the book, We will follow rules described
in section 5.6 of W3C Intellectual Right FAQ with following links.
http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Legal/IPR-FAQ-20000620#translate
And we will prominently disclose in Chinese the following 3 items in the
reference section of the chapters with W3C materials translated:
the original URL, the status of the document, and its original
copyright notice.
that the normative version of the specification is the English
version found at the W3C site.
that the translated document may contain errors from the translation.
Because I know the importance of the copyright of W3C TR. So I'm writing
this mail to solicit the allowrance for us to translate and include some
of the key concepts, description, figures and samples in the book.
Following table lists the details of the speficiations with parts of the
contents planned to be used. it will be appeciated if you could advise if
the manner of usage and contents are in the right way defined by W3C, what
should be changed and noticed later on, for the contents to be translated
and included in the book. So we could change the content to follow you
advise before the book draft is finalized. Please feel free to let me know
if futher information is needed. Thanks a lot!
