W3C Welcomes Google as First Gold Sponsor Adobe Backs Initiative Supporting W3C Mission at Silver Level http://www.w3.org/ — 19 October 2011 — W3C introduced a W3C Organization Sponsor program earlier this year to enhance its capacity to support the deployment of Web standards. W3C announces today the first W3C Organization Sponsors: Google (Gold) and Adobe (Silver). W3C thanks both organizations for their generosity. W3C will use the donations to support training, documentation, tools, and outreach to Web professionals. "W3C has been a cornerstone component of the World Wide Web's evolution and Google is pleased to be able to support and participate in its processes," said Vint Cerf, Chief Internet Evangelist at Google and an Internet pioneer. "W3C focuses on standardization as a means to interoperability," said Jeff Jaffe, W3C CEO. "But successful deployment relies on a broader range of activities, including training and outreach to developers. The donations from Google and Adobe make it possible for W3C to increase its investment in those activities. This means both greater deployment and new services to the Web community."
