At TPAC 2019, Amelia Bellamy-Royds (W3C Invited Expert) explained how the SVG Community Group makes it easier for SVG developers and content creators to engage with the W3C standardization process. See Amelia's video interview.
As chair of this group, Amelia invites developers and designers to propose new SVG features and requirements, by publishing in the group's github repository.

In this other TPAC video, Wendy Reid (Rakuten/Kobo), co-chair of the W3C Web Publishing Working Group, reported on the current status and goals of the Publishing Working Group. See Wendy's video interview.
The group's main focus now is to bring accessibility to publishing, specifically for audio books. This specification is a profile of the Publication Manifest. Find out more in their github repository. Finally, Wendy invites the developer community to implement the group's standards and to create the future of publishing both on the Web and beyond!

During the W3C Developer meetup in Fukuoka last month, Alice Boxhall (Google) made the case that accessibility and innovation actually go very well together. Designing for accessibility leads to better solutions, and in her presentation Alice went through a few examples from both recent and older history of technology where solving problems for people with disability created solutions for everybody! See Alice's presentation video.
