Dear Spec Editors, I want to draw your attention to changes applied to the Guidebook Manual of Style [1] that align with current practices. Relevant changes are now reflected in PubRules [2,3] and Bikeshed [4]. This revision [5] of the Manual of Style introduces: * 'web' is lowercase except: World Wide Web, World Wide Web Consortium, Web Consortium * how to use “W3C” as a proper noun without “the” unless used as an adjective. Correct: “W3C makes web standards”, “The Web Consortium makes web standards”; incorrect: “The W3C makes web standards”, “I help at the W3C" Correct: “the W3C Process Document is strict to be cool” I took the opportunity to do a thorough pass on the rest of the section "Commonly Misspelled Terms” and changed in many place to match current usage. cf. https://www.w3.org/guide/manual-of-style/#Terms The rest of the revision fixes editorial mistakes, adds s to http, and applies changes to match current usage (in particular, “W3C technical report index” is now called "W3C standards and drafts index” to be more descriptive). In this revision I also removed dictionaries no longer used. I made changes in order to follow the guidance in the very document. If you have questions, please let me know. If you notice bugs or have issues, please raise them in the GitHub repo [6].
