This couldn't be auto-determined, so we would need some way of annotating authors as going in the "et al" entry, but that's easy to handle. Bikeshed currently recognizes "Former Editors" as a separate metadata entry; maybe that's a reasonable way to split the distinction? That is, automatically format former editors as an "et al" in the Editors list, instead of the current formatting. ~TJ
