Is there a good reason to use an entity code for double quotes inside the code element

In a lot of spec source I have seen " used when writing html code
samples, and I have blindly followed along and emulated the practice.

I was just reviewing a PR where someone replaced the entity " with the
" character. Before adding a review comment about it, I decided to do a
little looking around and found several sources saying that it is not
necessary to use the " to render double quotes in HTML text.

Is there a good reason to use " instead of " when writing code samples
in our specs?
