W3C standard / initiative for measurement units

there are literary 100s of measurement units for temperature (Kelvin, Celsius, Fahrenheit, .. ) , for length, weight, etc .. which are used in Web publications .. but to my best knowledge there is no web-standard/tools that may help in the conversion of these units to units that the client (reader) easily understand and can set as defaults via e.g browser settings.

Is there any W3C group that has this problem on their agenda/ in their focus.
