Hello, For the definitive word on characters in a URI (and how to escape characters) see section 2 of: http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3986.txt You may also want to read a bit about the future of internationalized URIs (IRIs): http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3987.txt When including a URI in HTML, there are additional considerations because some characters have a special meaning in HTML. See: http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/appendix/notes.html#non-ascii-chars and http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/appendix/notes.html#h-B.2.2 I hope that helps, - Ian > So here where i work i have made my house rule wich is to never use > anything else then : > -letters with no accents (i'm french-canadian so we like those accent > like é, è, ù, ê, à, etc.) > -numbers > -the character "-" > -and the character "_" > -file name should be short (below 20 character). > > Here we take you guys as reference for our web practice.
