(Apologies for the previous email, the mailing list incorrectly reformatted the content) Call for participation Title : Hackathon on Metadata and Provenance for Knowledge Graphs Organized by : COST Action CA23147 (GOBLIN), Working Group 2, Task 2.2 Website : dmki-tuwien.github.io https://dmki-tuwien.github.io/goblin-hackathon/ Location : School of Computer Science, Calle Valdés Salas, S/N, Oviedo, Spain Google maps: maps.app.goo.gl https://maps.app.goo.gl/KhaEcdUxFRjgZdKd6 Dates : June 8-9, 2026 Overview We invite researchers and practitioners to join a collaborative hackathon focused on improving the quality, context, and traceability of Knowledge Graphs (KGs). This event serves as a hands-on “kick-off” of Task 2.2 (Metadata and Provenance), exploring how new mechanisms like RDF 1.2 and nested triple terms (earlier RDF-star) can address existing limitations in metadata modeling. Format This two-day event is a hands-on hackathon. We focus on active, collaborative work. The general structure will include: Introduction & Kick-off: Aligning on goals and finalizing project teams. Collaborative Breakout Sessions: The core of the event, where participants work in small groups on technical challenges, modeling, or implementation. Final Presentations & Consolidation: Sharing results and drafting a common report on the findings. Hackathon Themes While we welcome participants to propose their own topics related to RDF 1.2, we have identified two core challenges to be tackled: Wikibase & RDF 1.2 : Analyzing the expressiveness of the Wikibase data model (references, qualifiers, etc.) and how RDF 1.2 nested statements can address them. Best Practices & Recommendations : Identifying and defining data modeling guidelines for using RDF 1.2 to capture metadata and provenance effectively. Participants are encouraged to align their contributions with one of these two primary challenges, or to propose a novel challenge they are prepared to lead. Please note that, while we use these proposals to shape the event, the organizers will define the final hackathon topics. Submission & Participation Due to the collaborative nature of the event and funding constraints, participation is limited. To apply, please complete our docs.google.com Application Form ( docs.google.com https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSexPbKq2R8rAS2THvEBipUlwFPVa8PmKdDtzTh7r1X4GU47Fw/viewform ) by March 29, 2026, including: Motivation and Expertise : Motivation for joining the hackathon and a description of relevant papers, tools, or projects that you have contributed to. Position Paper : Proposing a concrete challenge to be addressed at the hackathon. Max. 2 pages in PDF Can have multiple co-authors, including people who do not intend to participate in the hackathon Every co-author who intends to participate in the hackathon must submit the application form Funding & Reimbursement A limited number of participants from Europe (approximately 13) can be reimbursed for travel and daily allowance via the COST Action. Please indicate in the form if you would still attend if reimbursement is not available.
