Open PhD and Postdoc Position at the University of Liège

The University of Liège (Belgium) is looking for one PhD student (4 years,
fully funded) and one junior postdoc (1 year, renewable once).

PhD Position:
---
The doctoral position is on the Legal and Technical Limits to Judicial
Protection Involving Artificial Intelligence. This position is tied to an
interdisciplinary project involving both the Department of Computer Science
and the Just-AI Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence. The Ph.D. candidate must
hold an MSc or MEng in computer science or equivalent and meet all the
requirements to enroll in the university's doctoral program. The (ideal)
start date is December 1st, and the position is open until filled.

The successful candidate will receive funding to carry out doctoral
research as part of the PDR-FNRS project Access Evidence, Uncover Causality
– Informational Transparency as Cornerstone of a Needs-Based Theory of
Procedural Fairness in AILiability Disputes (KNOW.THY.AI).

Postdoc position:
---
We are looking for a junior postdoc to research knowledge graphs and data
integration, considering challenges related to data governance, policies,
and regulations. While not yet published, the position is open to PhDs with
a background in knowledge graphs who are interested in applying them in the
aforementioned disciplines, or to PhDs in these disciplines who are
interested in applying KGs in that context. The (ideal) start date is
December 2025 or January 2026, and the position is open until filled.

The successful candidate will receive funding to carry out postdoctoral
research as part of the MIS-FNRS project Introducing Context-Awareness in
Data Integration Processes for Data-driven Projects with Knowledge Graphs
(CADIKG).
