Exciting Internship Opportunity: AI in Surgical Skill Learning

Hello,

We are excited to announce an internship opportunity at LIRMM, Montpellier to explore how AI can analyze individual differences in surgical skill learning. This project focuses on identifying essential motor skill patterns during surgical training with the Simball Box® trainer, leveraging multimodal sensor data, and refining AI models to capture variations in technique.

The internship is supervised by Dr. Chao Liu (DEXTER team, Robotics Department) and Prof. Madalina Croitoru (IDH team, Robotics Department), with additional support from a PhD student for experiment design and implementation.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Strong background in signal processing and AI.
Proficiency in Python and/or C++.
Interest in robotics or medical applications.
If you’re eager to contribute to advancing surgical training with cutting-edge AI methods, please send your CV and M1 transcript to chao.liu@lirmm.fr <mailto:chao.liu@lirmm.fr> and croitoru@lirmm.fr <mailto:croitoru@lirmm.fr>. The full project description is attached

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Best regards,

Madalina
