At the School of Business Informatics and Mathematics at the University of Mannheim, the following position is available as of the next possible date: Substitute Professorship for Data Science (8/9 W3 professorship, limited for three years, no tenure track) The successful candidate should have a solid track record in the area of Knowledge Graphs and complement the research focus "Mastering Large and Complex Data in Business and Society" of the Institute of Computer Science and Information Systems as well as the Data Science research at the University of Mannheim in general. We expect outstanding, internationally recognized research achievements in the field of knowledge graphs, particularly in at least one of the fields: * Knowledge Extraction from semi-structured and unstructured sources * Knowledge Graph Embedding methods * Knowledge Matching and Integration * Machine learning with Knowledge Graphs and Neurosymbolic AI * Applications of Knowledge Graphs in various domains We expect the successful candidate to raise third-party funds and to participate in the university's self-administration. Furthermore, we expect interdisciplinary cooperation with economics and social sciences in the context of the university's Data Science activities. Moreover, the successful candidate is expected to actively take part in shaping the teaching offerings of the Data and Web Science group, in particular by teaching courses in the following areas: * Data Mining * Knowledge Graphs * Databases for Data Scientists Appointment requirements are based on § 47 of the State University Law (LHG) of Baden-Württemberg. Appointment requirements are a completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude, and a completed doctorate. Early-career researchers are explicitly encouraged to apply.
