Dear Semantic Web Community, A 6 year Teaching and Research Associate (PhD) position is available at the Institute for Information Systems and New Media institute <https://nm.wu.ac.at/nm/>, which is part of the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management <https://www.wu.ac.a /en/isom/> at the Vienna University of Economics and Business <https://www.wu.ac.at/>. *What to expect* - Writing a dissertation: As part of a WU-PhD course you will be investigating your research topic and spending a third of your working hours on writing your dissertation. - Participation in research and teaching at the institute in German and English - Guided implementation of courses - Independent scientific work - Participation in organizational and administrative tasks at the institute *What you have to offer* - Completed a master's degree, which entitles you to enroll in a PhD program, in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science, Business Informatics (Information Systems; Business Informatics; Data Science); Information Technology; Software Engineering; Social and Economic Sciences (with a focus on applied Computer Science; Data Science; Business Informatics) - An interest in scientific work and teaching at the Institute for Information Systems and New Media whose research focus includes: - Distributed and Decentralized Systems: internet architectures, semantic technologies, knowledge graphs. - Software Engineering: internet-based, scalable information systems, development and empirical studies of development languages and methods, security and privacy. - Complex Systems: network science, social network analysis, computational social science and data science. - A solid technology oriented academic background: excellent study results; technical knowledge of at least one programming languages (such as C++, Java or Python); hands on experience working with structured data formats (such as JSON, XML and/or RDF); experience working with query languages (such as SQL, SPARQL, or graph query languages). - Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You have experience in using multimedia teaching and learning formats or are at least willing to learn. - Other required skills: Proficiency in German and English Additional details, including a link to the WU job portal, can be found here: https://www.wu.ac.at/karriere/arbeiten-an-der-wu/jobangebot /?yid=1688 Best Regards, Sabrina -- Senior Assistant Professor, Institute for Information Systems & New Media, Vienna University of Economics and Business Tel: +43-1-31336-4494 E-mail: sabrina.kirrane [at] wu.ac.at Homepage: http://sabrinakirrane.com
