RDF Dataset Canonicalization & Hashing WG kick off date set

Dear all,

It's been a long time coming but work to develop a W3C standard for the canonicalization and hashing of RDF datasets is about to begin. Co-chair Markus Sabadello (@peacekeeper) and I have set the kick off meeting for the RCH WG, pronounced 'rich WG', for Wednesday 31st August at 11:00 EST [1] and we'll be meeting at TPAC on Friday 16th September. TPAC is a hybrid event so participants can meet F2F in Vancouver or online.

There's an explainer and use cases document at [2] that gives a good idea of the motivation for the work, and, as many on this list will know, the need for signing an RDF dataset has long been recognized. The new Working Group's charter [3] lists a number of documents in this space that go back to 2003.

Details of the call itself will be announced to the WG members in due course but now is the time to review the charter [3] and sign up to join the group.

A criticism of RDF and Linked Data is that it's inherently insecure. Let's fix that.

Phil
