Dear users of Semantic-Web mailing list, The 1st IEEE International Workshop on Distributed and Intelligent Systems DistInSys 2021 Athens, Greece, September 5-8, 2021 https://fcrlab.unime.it/calls/distinsys2021 in conjunction with the Twenty-Sixth IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications Best papers presented at the workshop will be selected and the corresponding authors will be invited to submit an extended version of their papers for possible publications in one of the following Special Issues: - https://www.mdpi.com/journal/sensors/special_issues/SIECS, MDPI Sensors (ISSN 1424-8220) IF 3.275 - https://www.mdpi.com/journal/information/special_issues/AI_on_the_edge MDPI Information (ISSN 2078-2489) ======================================================= The digital environment that we populate is becoming more complex every day. Several devices are now connected to each other and to the Internet, generating large data volume moved back and forth between edge and data centers, and processed everywhere. This growth is not about to stop and we have to be ready for cutting-edge technologies when they become cheaper, such as wearable and robotics. The main solution is decomposing systems into smaller, distributed, efficient, intelligent, and autonomous units responsible for local decision making and control, let them explore knowledge that is stored locally and communicate among themselves only when needed. That solution opens issues when discussing the systems design, data and knowledge exchange, analysis of proper and optimal coupling of system parts as well as integration of subsystems introducing a completely diverse nature into the overall framework. This workshop aims to collect original papers in the field of distributed systems (i.e. distributed problem solving, orchestration of data and services over Cloud and Edge Computing) and intelligent systems (i.e swarm intelligence, multi-agent systems, and distributed artificial intelligence). Authors are encouraged to contribute by presenting new studies, algorithms, and use cases. Submitted papers must be original and not currently be under review by another conference or journal. TOPICS: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Orchestration of services and data over Cloud, Edge and Fog Computing - Internet of Things - Distributed Artificial Intelligence - Multi-Agent Systems - Swarm Intelligence - Advanced Algorithms and Computational Models - Knowledge Discovery - Distributed Problem Solving - Collaborative and Collective Intelligence - Self-Organized Systems - Distributed Security with Blockchain-Based solutions - Systems and Solutions for Covid-19 IMPORTANT DATES: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Papers submission: July 1, 2021 (Extended Firm) - Notification of Acceptance: July 18, 2021 - Camera-ready papers due: July 25, 2021 - Workshop date: Sept 5, 2021 Each deadline expires at 23:59:59 UTC-12 (AoE) PAPER SUBMISSION: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Authors are invited to submit full papers written in English, with a paper length up to six (6) printed pages for regular papers, or up to four (4) printed pages for short papers, including figures, tables & references in IEEE double-column format (IEEE standard conference templates). Submissions should contain original material and not be previously published, nor currently submitted for consideration elsewhere. All papers will be reviewed for scientific quality by the technical Program Committee. Manuscript templates for IEEE conference proceedings can be found at the following link https://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html All paper submissions must be done through EasyChair using the following link: [ easychair.org/conferences/?conf=distinsys2021](https://easychair.org/my/conference?conf=distinsys2021) Paper submission implies the willingness of at least one author to register, at the regular rate (non-student), and present the paper. The Workshop Proceedings will be part of the ISCC 2021 Proceedings, they will be indexed SI, dblp and Scopus and and will be submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Best papers presented at the workshop will be selected and the corresponding authors will be invited to submit an extended version of their papers for possible publications in one of the following Special Issues: - https://www.mdpi.com/journal/sensors/special_issues/SIECS, MDPI Sensors (ISSN 1424-8220) IF 3.275 - https://www.mdpi.com/journal/information/special_issues/AI_on_the_edge MDPI Information (ISSN 2078-2489) BEST PAPER AWARD: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A "Best Paper Award" Certificate will be conferred on the author(s) of a paper presented at the workshop, selected by the Chairs based on scientific significance, originality and outstanding technical quality of the paper, as assessed also by the evaluations of the members of the Program Committee.
