ABOUT THE HUMAN-CENTERED DATA ANALYTICS RESEARCH GROUP The HCDA research group studies how AI systems can be designed in such a way that they adhere to modern day societal values of inclusivity and accountability, and how AI can be applied responsibly in the humanities, cultural heritage and media sectors. Based on empirical evidence of how humans interact with data and systems, HCDA develops data-driven methods that are transparent, trustworthy, diverse, and aware of cultural differences. The group targets 1) hybrid AI systems where machine learning and explicit, symbolic knowledge are combined as well as 2) human-in-the-loop AI systems, where domain experts, data scientists or lay people, such as crowd workers, have an active role in an AI pipeline. Keywords: Knowledge representation, Human-computer interaction, Responsible AI. To find more information about the HCDA research group, please visit the group page and watch their video.
