1st generation Semantic Web took off as an academic effort of a few enthusiasts around 2001.
2nd generation of Semantic Web technology was commercialized by Google, Amazon, Microsoft and others starting around 2011.
It is 2021 and the 3rd generation of Semantic Web technology is now needed to help research and development in engineering, architecture and life sciences.
