Although I get posting from this forum, I'm not sure if I can post.If I've
understood correctly this is a commercialisation of the unallocated block still
in the possession of WIDE with a charitable (Research and education) purpose for
the proceeds.That seems appropriate.I'm unfamiliar with the process by which the
numbers are translated into names, obviously, some names and some top-level name
groups have more value than others.As with all markets, there is a bittersweet
side to it, e.g. some may bid for blocks and sell on.
Are you thinking about how these blocks might be used for semantic naming?
btw. I also found the potted history very moving.
