Hi all, Thinking about decentralised secure social networks, I came to think about how one could apply that one level up: instead of foaf connected persons, one could think of connected companies and institutions, linked to nations, which themselves could form a Web of Nations of two-way foaf-like diplomatic links. Researching this I found that a lot of the needed data was already available. It occurred to me recently, that it would help to put together a list of use cases illustrating how it could affect our daily interactions on the web. So this weekend I wrote up 12 use cases: 1. Enhance Trust in Small Businesses 2. Help Legitimate Institutions of Knowledge stand out 3. Make Fake News sites stand out 4. Stop Phishing attacks 5. Stop GUI Confusion attacks 6. Improve Trust in Apps 7. Help Search Engines and Social Networks attribute content 8. Cheaper EV X509 Certificates 9. Anchor flexible Verifiable Credentials (age, licences, …) 10. Trusting Linked Data 11. Anchor Provenance (PROV) 12. Machine Readable GDPR Policies The following blog post details in a couple of paragraphs each of these points with illustrations and links where helpful https://medium.com/@bblfish/use-cases-for-the-web-of-nations-361c24d5eaee I would be very grateful for feedback on these, problems people may have with them (it is difficult to address unexpressed problems) and even suggestions as to applications I may have missed.
