For the next possible date, GESIS, department Knowledge Technologies for the Social Sciences (WTS), located in Cologne, is looking for two Research Associates in the field of FAIR Research Data Infrastructures (salary group 13 TV-L, working time 80%, limited to 24 months). The department Knowledge Technologies for Social Sciences (WTS, https://www.gesis.org/en/institute/departments/knowledge-technologies-for-the-social-sciences/) develops innovative web portals and platforms for the search and use of research data. WTS innovations are based on a state-of-the-art software stack and research-based technologies at the intersection of natural language processing, knowledge graphs, information retrieval and human computer interaction. Your tasks will be: ******************** - Development of sustainable and scalable concepts to improve the referenceability and interoperability of research data by persistent identifiers on the level of specific entities (like survey variables) and open APIs for standardized data exchange - Requirement specification, concept development, technical modeling and implementation along use cases - Collaboration on the definition of the metadata standards and vocabularies - Continuous exchange with relevant communities (NFDI, GO FAIR, RDA, EOSC, CESSDA) - Publication of project results - Integration and co-development of innovations from WTS research, e.g. tools for data linking and data access Your profile: ************** - University degree in Computer Science or related fields - High analytical and concept development competence and experience with the publication of project results - Experience in software modeling and development with Java, Web and XML technologies, database and search technologies; knowledge of Linux server administration and virtualization using Docker - Desirable: Knowledge of metadata and (semantic) web standards, current developments in the field of FAIR, - Desirable: experience with technologies such as knowledge graphs, machine learning or natural language processing - Ability to communicate fluently in English, German is a plus.
