The main topic concerns novel explainable AI techniques for semantic, symbolic, and sub-symbolic knowledge management (i.e., integration and negotiation) in the context of Machine Learning and distributed intelligent systems. Application area: nutrition monitoring and recommendation.


The position is fully funded in the framework of the European CHIST-ERA project named EXPECTATION(http://expectation.ehealth.hevs.ch/). Competitive salary.


Starting Date: between the 1st February and the 1st April 2021


Work environment-The successful applicant will join a very motivated team of international researchers working on AI techniques (Machine Learning and Intelligent Agents) applied to healthcare. The PhD will be conducted in close collaboration with researchers of theUniversity of Bologna (Italy), University of Luxembourg (Luxembourg), and Özyegin University (Turkey).


The offices are located in one of the most beautiful place of Switzerland, the heart of the the Swiss Alps, minutes from several ski resorts. Many outdoor sports are possible during the whole year (skiing, hiking, etc.). Sierre is known as the sunniest place of Switzerland.


Requirements for the position

-Master's degree in Computer Science

-Competences in Machine Learning

-Excellentknowledge of English
