Dear all, The Institute for Information Systems & New Media at the WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) is currently inviting applications for the following 5 year PhD position: Responsibilities: -Participation in research and teaching at the institute -Independent implementation of courses -Doctorate or PhD (as part of a WU-PhD course) -Independent scientific work -Participation in general institute tasks Profile: Completed a master's degree, which entitles you to enroll in a PhD program, in one of the following subject areas: Computer science Business informatics (Information Systems, Business Informatics) Information Technology, software engineering (software engineering) Social and economic sciences (e.g. business or economics) with a focus on applied computer science (e.g. business informatics) An interest in scientific work and teaching at the Chair of “Business Informatics and New Media” whose research focus includes: -Software engineering: Internet-based, scalable information systems, development and empirical studies of development languages and methods, security and privacy -Complex systems: network science, social network analysis, computational social science and data science -Technology-based teaching: learning analytics, learning management systems, knowledge management We expect excellent study results, technical knowledge of programming languages such as C++, Java or Python, structured data formats such as JSON, XML and RDF, and query languages such as SQL, SPARQL, or graph query languages, etc. as well as proficiency in English. Applications must include a motivation letter, a detailed CV, and grades from all stages of their academic development. All documents should be submitted in English. The minimum gross monthly salary is €2,196.75, subject to adjustment if candidates can document relevant prior professional experience. This substitute employee position will be limited to a period of five years, starting as soon as possible.
