PhD student and PostDoc positions at University of Innsbruck, Austria

STI Innsbruck (www.sti-innsbruck.at) is a research group at the 
Department of Computer Science at the University of Innsbruck engaged in 
research and development to bring information and communication 
technologies of the future into today`s world. To strengthen its 
research and start-up activities in Artificial Intelligence, STI 
Innsbruck is currently looking for candidates for the following 
positions:

2 PhD Students and 1 PostDoc

Responsibilities (PhD student):
- Research, writing a doctoral dissertation
- Teaching and supervision of students
- Implementation of research projects
- Writing of research papers (for workshops, conferences, journals) and 
participation in conferences, meetings
- Training and further education
- Administrative tasks

Required qualifications (PhD student):
- Master's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent degree
- Research interest in areas such as Semantic Web technology, natural 
language processing and understanding, reasoning and graph‐based data 
repositories, symbolic machine learning and deep learning technologies
- Experience in programming: Java and/or other relevant technologies
- Good English language skills, knowledge of German is an advantage
- Willingness to work in an international team
- Willingness to combine formal research with real-world practice in 
national and international projects

Responsibilities (PostDoc):
- High-quality research
- Participation in research projects
- Funding acquisition and management of research projects
- Writing of research papers (workshops, conferences, journals) and 
participation in conferences, meetings
- Graduate and undergraduate teaching, examination activities
- Supervision of students
- Administrative tasks

Required qualifications (PostDoc):
- Doctoral degree in Computer Science or comparable discipline, 
preferably related to semantic technologies
- Publications in high-level international journals and conferences
- Teaching experience
- Research interest in areas such as Semantic Web technology, natural 
language processing and understanding, reasoning and graph‐based data 
repositories, symbolic machine learning and deep learning technologies
- Good English language skills, knowledge of German is an advantage
- Willingness to work in an international team
- Willingness to combine formal research with real-world practice in 
national and international projects
- Experience in grant applications and project management is an 
advantage
