Re: Inventory of scientific, technology, industry and library coding systems converted into ontologies, quality assurance and benchmarks for suchs

Dear all:

For the e-business domain, we proposed approaches to convert product and services classification standards like eCl@ss and UNSPSC.

A first conversion to RDF/OWL that we were granted permission to publish online was eClassOWL [1], a conversion of eCl@ss 5.1.4.

In a later stage of our project we described and employed a generic conversion engine (PCS2OWL) [2], whereby it was possible to convert several classification systems and proprietary category systems (e.g. Google Product Taxonomy) into RDF [3].

All of our conversions leverage the GenTax methodology [4], a means to model taxonomies in a context-specific way whilest preserving the original taxonomic structure.

Best wishes
Alex
