The 6th International Workshop on Semantic Technologies for Information-Integrated Collaboration (STIIC 2016) http://cts2016.cisedu.info/2-conference/workshops---cts-2016/workshop04-stiic2016 Call for Papers and Participation As part of The 2016 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS 2016) http://cts2016.cisedu.info or http://cisedu.us/rp/cts16 October 31 - November 04, 2016 The Florida Hotel and Conference Center Orlando, Florida, USA In Cooperation with ACM, IEEE, and IFIP Paper Submission Deadline: July 17, 2016 Submissions could be for full papers, short papers, poster papers, or posters SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES Information-integrated collaboration networks have become an important part of today’s complex enterprise systems – given the high dynamics of network-centric systems, which need to react to changes at the level of their information and communication space by providing flexible mechanisms to manage a wide variety of information resources, which are heterogeneous, decentralized, and constantly evolving. Semantic technologies promise to deliver innovative and effective solutions to this problem, facilitating the realization of information integration mechanisms in collaboration systems. Two fundamental problems are inherent to the design of integrated collaboration solutions: (i) semantic inaccessibility, caused by the failure to explicitly specify the semantic content of the information contained within the subsystems that must share information in order to collaborate effectively; and (ii) logical disconnectedness: caused by the failure to explicitly represent constraints between the information managed by the different collaborating subsystems. Mainstream EAI technologies deal with information and information management tasks at the syntactic level. Data protocols and standards that are used to facilitate seamless information exchange and ‘plug and play’ interoperability do not take into account the meaning of the underlying information and the view of the individual stakeholders on the information exchanged. What is lacking are mechanisms that have the ability to capture, store, and manage the meaning of the data and artifacts that need to be shared for collaborative problem solving, decision support, planning, and execution. Semantic information sharing and integration technologies will provide an important collaboration enabling mechanism for the emerging net-centric systems and the information grid. Further, it is likely that advances in this area will support multiple modes of collaboration with disparate and cross-cutting technologies. This workshop, held as part of CTS 2016, will bring together researchers and experts interested in bridging the gaps between the different technologies, and between technologies and applications. We invite original contributions on the technology practice and user experience for these emerging and important areas from researchers in academia, industry, and research institutions. The STIIC workshop topics include (but are not limited to) the following: Ontology-based Methods for Information Integration Semantics-based Integration and Interoperability Semantics Based Clouds and Cloud Computing Semantic Workflow Orchestration Semantic Mediation Methods Semantic Discovery and Matchmaking Services Collaborative Knowledge Engineering and Management Using Semantic Annotations and Semantic Wikis for Collaborative Applications Semantic driven data crowdsourcing Semantic Searching Semantics for Mobility Ontologies Semantic Technologies and Languages Agile Development of Semantic Applications Semantically-enabled Integration Solutions for the Sensor Web, Smart Environments, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Emergency Management, Energy Management, e-Commerce, Finance, Marketing and Advertising PAPER SUBMISSION You are invited to submit original and unpublished research works on above and other topics related to semantic technologies and information-integrated collaboration. Submitted papers must not have been published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere. Submissions could be for full papers, short papers, poster papers, or posters (please specify). For Regular papers, please submit a PDF copy of your full manuscript, not to exceed 8 double-column formatted pages per template, and include up to 6 keywords and an abstract of no more than 400 words. Additional pages will be charged additional fee. Submission should include a cover page with authors' names, affiliation addresses, fax numbers, phone numbers, and all authors email addresses. Please, indicate clearly the corresponding author(s) although all authors are equally responsible for the manuscript. Short papers (up to 4 pages), poster papers and posters (please refer to http://cts2016.cisedu.info/1-call-for-papers/call-for-posters for posters submission details) will also be considered. Please specify the type of submission you have. Please include page numbers on all preliminary submissions to make it easier for reviewers to provide helpful comments. Submit a PDF copy of your full manuscript to the workshop EasyChair paper submission site at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=stiic2016. Acknowledgement will be sent within 48 hours of submission. If the submission is for a poster paper or short paper, indicate that as well on the manuscript and in the submission form's Notes field. Only PDF files will be accepted, uploaded to the submission link above. Each paper will receive a minimum of three reviews. Papers will be selected based on their originality, relevance, significance, technical clarity and presentation, and references. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper, if accepted. At least one of the authors of each accepted paper will have to register and attend the CTS 2016 conference to present the paper at the workshop. Proceedings Accepted papers will be published in the Conference proceedings. Instructions for final manuscript format and requirements will be posted on the CTS 2016 Conference web site. It is our intent to have the proceedings formally published in hard and soft copies and be available at the time of the conference. The proceedings is projected to be included in the IEEE Digital Library and indexed in all major indexing services accordingly. If you have any questions about paper submission or the workshop, please contact the organizers.
