The Open University’s Knowledge Media Institute (KMi) in UK has two openings for Research Associate/Assistant positions.
The first position is to work on Rexplore – http://technologies.kmi.open.ac.uk/rexplore/, a system which leverages novel solutions in large-scale data mining, semantic technologies and visual analytics, to provide an innovative environment for exploring and making sense of scholarly data. This position is particularly suitable to people with a research interest in big data and large scale visual analytics.
The second position is to work on Garden Monitor – http://kmi.open.ac.uk/technologies/name/garden-monitor, a mobile application for Android, which is being developed in the context of the MK:Smart project - http://www.mksmart.org. Garden Monitor supports efficient water management by using machine learning techniques to generate garden-specific calendars, which aim to predict accurately the conditions of a garden in the near future. This position is particularly suitable to people with a research interest in sustainable computing and machine learning.
