Dear colleague, apologies if you receive multiple copies of this message. ====================================================================== SetVR 2016 International Workshop on Set Visualisation and Reasoning 7 August 2016, Philadelphia, United States of America (co-located with DIAGRAMS 2016) https://sites.google.com/site/setvr2kn/current-workshop ====================================================================== ---- Important Dates ---- Submission of papers: 11 April 2016 Notification of acceptance/rejection: 16 May 2016 Final version due: 11 July 2016 Workshop: 7 August 2016 ---- Aims and Scope ---- The International Workshop on Set Visualisation and Reasoning (previously called the Euler Diagrams Workshop) aims to bring together researchers in the field. The community publishes in a diverse range of outlets, hence a single workshop provides a unique opportunity to share ideas and practice. The topic of the workshop includes established set representations like Euler/Venn diagrams and matrices as well as new formalisms, such as linear diagrams and line-sets. The workshop scope covers methods for laying out, reasoning with and evaluating set visualisations. As new notations come online, this workshop will provide a focal point for early-stage research alongside more advanced contributions, enabling a better understanding of how we visualize and reason about sets. Application areas for this research are broad and encompass many other disciplines, such as biosciences, business, and criminology. Submissions detailing novel applications of visual set representations are welcome. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Theoretical Advances: - diagrammatic drawability - layout constraints - logic - reasoning - novel forms of set visualisation Software Support: - visualisation generation - mechanisms for interaction - tools for dynamic set data - automated reasoning - layout algorithms - data exploration Real-World Applications: - big data - system modelling - education - social networks - biosciences - security Cognition and Perceptual Principles: - readability - aesthetics - evaluation and comparisons ---- Paper Submission and Publication ---- We solicit submissions on the topics mentioned above and other related areas, in the following forms: full papers (15 pages), consisting of: - original research - surveys short papers (7 pages), consisting of: - systems descriptions - software demonstrations - position statements - early original research contributions All submissions should be in LNCS format (http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-6-793341-0). Please submit via EasyChair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=setvr2016). We plan to publish the proceedings of the workshop in the CEUR Workshop Proceedings (http://ceur-ws.org).
