The European project CONCRETE ("Concept Creation Technologies") aims to study conceptual creativity in humans and machines hoping to achieve computationally-creative reasoning as the creation of new concepts. It will focus on mechanisms for generating examples from a learned model, and mechanisms for evaluating generated examples according to novelty and value. In the frame of this project, the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (NIL research group) will undertake the following tasks: generating linguistic renderings of concepts created anew by project technologies, exploit newly created concepts to produce original machine-generated poetry, and exploit newly created concepts in support of task of automated summarization of text. One postdoctoral research position is available to work in this project. The position is for a full-time postdoctoral researcher with annual salary 42,800 euro. The positions are for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a further two years, starting from 27th January 2014. Candidates are expected to have a PhD degree and a first degree in Computer Science or related field. They should have research experience in natural language processing, knowledge representation, natural language generation, and Java programming. Additional experience in logic, ontologies, grammars and/or web services will be considered a plus.
