Call-for-Papers: International Workshop on Semantic Technology for Smart Cities (STSC2013)

Call-for-Papers

International Workshop on Semantic Technology for Smart Cities (STSC2013)

http://wasp.cs.vu.nl/stsc/stsc2013/

The notion of smart cities has been introduced as a strategic device to
encompass modern urban production factors in a common framework and to
highlight the growing importance of Information and Communication
Technologies, social and environmental capital in profiling the
competitiveness of cities. Smart cities drive sustainable economic
growth and prosperity for their citizens. Their leaders have the tools
to analyze data for better decisions, anticipate problems to resolve
them proactively and coordinate resources to operate effectively. That
appeals for new technology for urban computing to deal with large scale,
heterogeneous, noisy, dynamic, and inconsistent data.

The semantic technology provides an effect and efficient solution for
the data interoperability in urban computing to build smart cities. This
international workshop on Semantic Technology for Smart Cities (STSC) is
designed to be a discussion forum for researchers who are interested in
the research and development of semantic technology for applications in
urban computing.

The list of the covered topics includes but not limited to:

Development of semantic applications in urban computing
     Semantic infrastructure for smart cities
     Intelligent transportation systems
Geographic semantic data processing and reasoning
     Linking geographic data
     Traffic predication and route planning
Semantic systems for road sign management
Reasoning and processing with noisy and inconsistent data
Scalable data processing for urban computing

The workshop will take place during the 14th International Conference on
Web Information System Engineering (WISE2013), October 13th-15th,
Nanjing, China, as a full-day event.

Please note that for every accepted paper at least one of the authors
must attend the workshop and must register for the workshop and the main
conference. Submission of a paper is not required for attendance at the
workshop. However, in the event that the workshop cannot accommodate all
who would like to participate, those who have submitted a paper will be
given priority.
