Re: Workshop CFP: Vaccine and Drug Ontology Studies (VDOS-2013)

We normally would not add to any CfP, but this time developments warrant making extra comments:

Can anyone point me to the appropriate areas for funding under Horizon 2020 to at least have the European Union and possibly some of the billionaires who signed the Giving Pledge to make available funding which would improve open science/citizen science technology platforms to help address this issue?

More research needs to be done into tackling infections by other means than antibiotic drugs and having incentives in place and early warning systems for rapid response to micro-organisms reaching immunity and spreading and treatment options and technologies in place.

Imagine what would happen if commonly known micro-organisms associated with outbreaks after natural disasters due to lack of water, hygiene and sanitation become fully resistant?

By bringing up all these issues I hope to have at least some participants consider including these thematic areas into the scope of papers to be produced for this Workshop.

Preventive Health Care coupled to open science/citizen science provides on of the most promising fields of use for linked open data and semantic technologies and could be implemented in semantic web dashboard technologies for mobile devices.

In the conference of ICBO-2013 or ICBO/CSWS/DILS Semantic Trilogy (at Montreal Canada, 7 July 2013), there will be a workshop titled:

“Vaccine and Drug Ontology Studies (VDOS-2013)”
http://www.unbsj.ca/sase/csas/data/ws/semantic-trilogy-workshops/

The detailed information link is here:

Basically, it is an ontology workshop with a focus on vaccine and drug studies.

For the paper submission for this workshop, we will allow three submission formats:
full research papers (6 pages) format
work in progress / late breaking results (2-3 pages), and
a statement of interest (one page) for podium presentation.
The paper format will be the same as the format used in ICBO.

Selected full research papers will be invited for extension and publication in the Journal of Biomedical Semantics (JBMS).

Individual Workshop Papers Due: April 15, 2013.
Please forward this announcement to anyone who might be interested. Thank you for your consideration.
