We are seeking for motivated researchers to join two newly starting EU-funded ICT Framework 7 projects: – DICODE (Mastering Data-intensive Collaboration and Decision Making); – ImREAL (Immersive Reflective Experience-based Adaptive Learning). Post 1 in Requirements and Systems Architecture: http://hr.leeds.ac.uk/jobs/ViewJob.aspx?SId=16&JId=1780<https://outlook.leeds.ac.uk/owa/redir.aspx?C=60839e9ddc444bf0879d4c90ba9e5f58&URL=http%3a%2f%2fhr.leeds.ac.uk%2fjobs%2fViewJob.aspx%3fSId%3d16%26JId%3d1780> Post 2 in Knowledge Engineering: http://hr.leeds.ac.uk/jobs/ViewJob.aspx?SId=16&JId=1770<https://outlook.leeds.ac.uk/owa/redir.aspx?C=60839e9ddc444bf0879d4c90ba9e5f58&URL=http%3a%2f%2fhr.leeds.ac.uk%2fjobs%2fViewJob.aspx%3fSId%3d16%26JId%3d1770> Post 3 in User and Community Modelling: http://hr.leeds.ac.uk/jobs/ViewJob.aspx?SId=16&JId=1778<https://outlook.leeds.ac.uk/owa/redir.aspx?C=60839e9ddc444bf0879d4c90ba9e5f58&URL=http%3a%2f%2fhr.leeds.ac.uk%2fjobs%2fViewJob.aspx%3fSId%3d16%26JId%3d1778> Both DICODE and ImREAL are highly ambitious interdisciplinary projects, involving a number of European Academic and Industrial partners. Leeds focuses on acquiring a deeper understanding of the construction and usage of collective intelligence for learning, collaboration and decision making. We aim to break new grounds in the design and development of intelligent technologies for collective knowledge capture and user/community modelling in the new age of smart digital social spaces. DICODE aims to deliver a set of innovative, adaptive and interoperable services which facilitate the synergy between human and machine reasoning. Three complex use cases provide the context for the development and experimentation. See project web site: http://www.dicode-project.eu/<https://outlook.leeds.ac.uk/owa/redir.aspx?C=60839e9ddc444bf0879d4c90ba9e5f58&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.dicode-project.eu%2f>. ImREAL aims to deliver intelligent services that augment dialogue simulators for learning. Three key services will be developed: capturing real world activity and semantic content annotation, extended user and context modelling, and adaptive meta-cognitive scaffolding. An integrated framework will be implemented and instantiated to extend simulated environments, see http://www.imreal-project.eu/<https://outlook.leeds.ac.uk/owa/redir.aspx?C=60839e9ddc444bf0879d4c90ba9e5f58&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.imreal-project.eu%2f> University of Leeds is the UK's eighth biggest research powerhouse, and is one of the largest higher education institutions in the UK. The posts are based in the School of Computing, which is a leading international centre for computing research with an impressive 80% of research activity rated as internationally excellent or world leading. The School is home to a large community of research staff and students, with over 30 research staff and 70 research students working as groups within dedicated research laboratories. We identify our staff as being the key to our success and ensure that colleagues have the necessary quality of time and space to be able to undertake high calibre research. All three posts are offered at university Grade 6 (£24,273 - £28,983 p.a.) or Grade 7 (£29,853 – £35,646 p.a.), dependent upon qualifications and relevant research experience. For more detail about each post, see the further particulars following the corresponding links above.
