Hi Saba, You don't need to have a big list of mailboxes - sending to semantic-web@w3.org (first semantic-web-request@w3.org to subscribe I think) will get to all the people you need. 2009/10/10 saba arslan <sabarslan@gmail.com>: > Hi, > > I'm an MS student at one of the developing countries, that is, Pakistan. I'm not sure "migrating" is quite the right word - the Semantic Web is an extension of the existing Web, so there's no major changeover. But you are certainly looking in the right kind of areas if you've encountered microformats. Taking that as a starting point, I'd suggest looking at RDFa and GRDDL : http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml-rdfa-primer/ http://www.w3.org/TR/grddl-primer/ It might be due to the fact that we have limited resources to find > work from which include IEEE and ACM. If you have Web access then you have access to virtually all the recent work in the field, if anything the print publications lag behind the material you'll find online. There might be some work done or still > in progress in automatically migrating the current web's static contents > into semantic web. I read your paper while I was working my way through so I > thought of asking you. If you have any specific questions, please send them to the list mentioned above. For background material the starting point is ... well I was going to point you to the W3C's homepage on the subject, but Google gave me Wikipedia's entry first, which isn't bad : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semantic_Web ok, the other : http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/ I don't know what your connectivity is like (I live in rural Italy and broadband hasn't quite got here), but if possible I'd recommend this video : http://www.technologyreview.com/video/semantic (I should be able to send it as an email attachment, if necessary) For ongoing updates on what people in the field are doing, check: http://planetrdf.com people will (when they notice) answer your questions on #swig, irc.freenode.net (available via http://www.mibbit.com/ if you can't use an IRC client). Please let us know how you get on with your automation idea, and above all - enjoy your research! Cheers, Danny. -- http://danny.ayers.name
