The XML Summer School being held at St Edmunds Hall at Oxford University 20 - 25th September will have a Semantic Technologies track for the first time this year. This day-long event will begin with me giving an overview of semantic technologies, followed by Leigh Dodds on Linked Data, Andy Seaborne on SPARQL, and finishing with Duncan Hull on Ontologies, OWL and Protégé. See http://xmlsummerschool.com/curriculum2009/semantic-technologies/ for more on this track. Other tracks of the summer school include "XSLT, XQuery, and XSL-FO", "Open Source XML Applications", "Web Services and Identity", and "Web 2.0". A big part of the summer school since it's beginning in 2000 has been the cross-fertilization among the tracks as people hang out at meals, the social events planned as part of the summer school, and the bars after that. It's a lot of fun, and always very informative. See http://xmlsummerschool.com for an overview of the summer school. Bob
