*************************************************************** * SAMT 2008 - CALL FOR POSTERS & DEMOS * * 3rd International Conference on * * Semantics And digital Media Technologies * * Koblenz, Germany, 3-5 December 2008 * *************************************************************** In cooperation with GI, ACM, IEEE, and Eurographics. SAMT 2008 aims at narrowing the large disparity between the low-level descriptors that can be computed automatically from multimedia content and the richness and subjectivity of semantics in user queries and human interpretations of audiovisual media - The Semantic Gap. SAMT 2008 solicits project poster and demo contributions that will be presented in special sessions during the conference, giving the opportunity to present ongoing research and interesting work "in progress". Objectives or results of active projects, initiatives or standardization activities, reports on systems under development, or descriptions of completed work are also welcome. The Demo session is intended to provide a showcase for innovative implementations, systems, and technologies related to semantic multimedia. In principle, posters may be backed up with demos, and vice versa. Contributions will be evaluated based on significance of results, relevance to SAMT and expected impact. Posters and Demos are intended to convey a scientific result or work in progress and not to advertise software packages! SAMT 2008 poster & demo topics include, but are not limited to 1) Semantic Analysis and Multimedia 2) Semantic Retrieval and Multimedia 3) Semantic Metadata Management of Multimedia 4) Semantic User Interfaces for Multimedia 5) Semantics in Visualization and Computer Graphics 6) Applications of Semantic Multimedia ------------------------------------- SUBMISSIONS FOR POSTER/DEMO PROPOSALS ------------------------------------- SAMT 2008 welcomes your submission to the posters and demos session. A short abstract is due September 1st, 2008 and should not exceed two pages in LNCS style publication format (check the paper formatting guidelines on the SAMT 2008 conference web site). Authors should specify if the submission will be presented as a demo, a poster, or both, and clearly indicate whether the submission concerns a project (if so, they should specify the project). All paper submissions and reviews will be handled via https://www.conftool.net/samt2008/ Decisions about acceptance will be based on relevance to the SAMT topics, originality, potential significance and clarity. Authors submitting a paper to the scientific track in SAMT 2008 may also submit the same work for consideration in the poster and demo track, either before or after acceptance notification for the full paper. --------------- IMPORTANT DATES --------------- Poster/Demo submission: September 1, 2008 Notification of Acceptance: October 10, 2008 Camera-Ready Due: October 24, 2008 Conference: December 3-5, 2008 ---------------------- DEMOS & POSTERS CHAIRS ---------------------- Michela Spagnuolo, IMATI - Institute for Applied Mathematics and Information Technologies Genova, Italy Siegfried Handschuh Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI) National University of Ireland Galway, Ireland mailto: samt-poster-demo-chairs@uni-koblenz.de
