Freie Universität Berlin Department of Mathematics and Computer Science Institute for Computer Science invites applications for a Junior Professorship =================== in Computer Science with a Focus on Corporate Semantic Web. The successful applicant will be required to provide teaching and research in this area. In line with article 102a of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz), the successful candidate will have a Ph.D. reflecting her or his outstanding academic qualification. Previous work in the academic field --- both prior and subsequent to the conferral of the doctoral degree --- should not exceed a total of six years. The position is part of the research field "Networked Information Systems" (www.ag-nbi.de) and of the BMBF Research Project "Corporate Semantic Web" (www.corporate-semantic-web.de). The successful applicant will be required to direct the "InnoProfile" project. The appointee should have proven competence in modern Web-technologies, corporate information systems, Semantic Web, ontology engineering, semantic search and collaborative applications. Moreover he or she should have excellent international experience in teaching, directing research projects, industry cooperation, and externally funded research. The junior professor will be expected to actively engage in the study of Network Based Information Systems, both through teaching and research. In general, the language of instruction will be German, but some teaching may be conducted in English. A non-German-speaking appointee will be expected to be able to teach in German within two years. The initial contract for this position is for the duration of three years, for which the junior professor will be granted civil servant status with limited tenure (W1).
