Postdoc Position in Large-scale Online Information Management

The Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science of the
University of Trento, Italy, seeks applications for a post-doctoral
position starting in early 2008.

The position is part of the OKKAM European Union Integrated Project,
led by the University of Trento. The goal of the project is to
design and implement a publicly available and open infrastructure for
supporting the storage and reuse of global identifiers over the
(Semantic) Web.

The main research areas are:

   * entity management and integration
   * entity matching
   * online data management
   * data summarization and data evolution
   * information retrieval

The candidate should have a PhD in Computer Science, and a strong
background in one or more of the following fields: database management
systems, entity identification and management, semantic web, storage
mechanisms, data summarization, caching, information retrieval.

Proficiency in English and programming experience in Java are expected.
Strong system skills as well as experience with real-life deployments
are a plus.

The University of Trento offers a challenging, higly-international
research environment. Salary is competitive, ranging between
30,000-40,000 EUR gross/year, depending on qualifications. There are

deployments, are a definite plus.
