CALL FOR PAPERS 1st International Workshop on Semantic Enhanced Multimedia Presentation Systems (SEMPS) December 6, 2006 in Athens, Greece co-located with the Semantics and Digital Media Technology Conference (SAMT). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- Submission Deadline: 30 August 2006 For more information see: http://mmit.informatik.uni-oldenburg.de/SEMPS2006/ Description It is almost 10 years since Intelligent Multimedia Presentation Systems (IMMPS) were formalised in a Standard Reference Model. Even then, the role of knowledge bases and reasoning was recognised as a vital element for the adaptive and automated production of multimedia presentations. This decade has seen the rise of the Web as a platform for multimedia delivery and of Semantic Web research to enable the expression and manipulation of knowledge over the Web. The goal of this workshop is to explore how Semantic Web technologies can be applied to Multimedia Presentation Systems in order to support Internet-based delivery of user and context personalised, rich media-based Web presentations and new innovative types of online service. We are soliciting high-quality original submissions that present novel ideas in the field, discuss and question existing paradigms and introduce new research directions. Topics include, but are not limited to: Knowledge and Semantics in Multimedia Data Organisation, Describing users, devices, contexts etc. for targeted multimedia presentation, Ontologies and vocabularies for describing aspects of multimedia processes, Dynamic generation of coherent multimedia presentations, Services delivering multimedia content in response to information queries, Current Challenges in Semantic-enhanced Multimedia Presentation Systems Important Dates August 30, 2006 - Submission of papers September 30, 2006 – Notification of acceptance October 20, 2006 - Submission of camera-ready paper December 6, 2006 - Workshop Submission We welcome submissions of either short or full papers to the workshop. Short papers may be up to 8 pages in length and accepted short papers will be presented in the workshop as part of a poster session. Full papers may be up to 15 pages in length and accepted full papers will be presented at the workshop as talks. Submitted full papers may also be accepted for presentation as posters. Papers should be formatted in Springer LNCS format (http:// www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html) and submitted in PDF format.
