PhD student position is open at the chair of Business Information Systems at Universität Leipzig: For the BmbF (German Ministry of Education and Research) funded cooperative project SoftWiki we are looking for a PhD student with interest in Semantic Web research and Web application development. The aim of the SoftWiki project is to empower distributed, communities of domain experts, knowledge engineers and end users to collaborate on a semantic level. The application domain of the project is Software Engineering in particular Requirements Engineering. However, the role of University of Leipzig in the project is to develop generic means of scalable, Web based semantic collaboration, with respect to current trends in Web technologies, such as folksonomies, blogs and semantic wikis. Candidates should have/be: * excellent knowledge of Web technologies, * be familiar with the Semantic Web knowledge representation standards, * experiences with Web application development, * good software engineering skills, * fluent English and at least basic German. Compensation will be either as a Research Assistant (Wiss. Mitarbeiter/in, BAT IIa/2) or PhD scholarship (approx. 1200 €). Possible start is 1st of June or later. Leipzig is an attractive metropolis in eastern Germany, with a lively cultural, scientific and economic scenes.
