hosted by: ECMDA - European Conference on Model-Driven Architecture 11 July 2006 - Bilbao, Spain 2nd Call for Papers ------------------- *** DEADLINE EXTENSION *** URL: http://www.computing.dcu.ie/SMMDA06/ With the emergence of knowledge representation and ontology technology on the software engineering scene, the idea of modelling which incorporates semantic ontologies has received increased attention. Initiatives such as the OMG’s Ontology Definition Metamodel have the chance of benefiting from the impetus of the Semantic Web and its accompanying support in academia and industry. The aim of extending semantics in the MDA framework is the enhancement of the modelling capabilities of the different MDA layers. The aim of the workshop is to debate the various aspects of enhanced semantics in the MDA context. We invite original submissions from both researchers and practitioners from the following (non-exhaustive) list of topics: * MDA layer-specific semantic modelling * Semantic MDA solutions for component and service-based systems * The fit between Semantic MDA and emerging standards like Semantic Web Services * Extensibility opportunities when using enhanced semantics in MDA * MDA and semantic Web services * Ontology-based transformations * Shortcomings with the Semantic Web with respect to MDA * Potential disadvantages of extending semantics in an MDA framework * Practicalities of extending semantic capabilities in an MDA framework * Deficiencies in the Ontology Definition Metamodel ODM * Integration of UML/MDA and Semantic Web languages * Software modelling and Semantic Web languages * Ontology-driven architecture (ODA) * MDA modelling for ontology-based component and service discovery * Ontology reasoning for MDA * Semantic annotations in MDA * Semantic Web rule languages (SWRL, WSML-Rule, SWSL, etc.) in MDA * OMG's Architecture Driven Modernisation (ADM), Reverse-engineering and the Semantic Web * Case Study Examples Semantic modelling in the context of model-driven development approaches is an area that is still in its infancy, but that has the potential to address recent issues in software engineering technology. The workshop aims to explore and evaluate this potential. The SMMDA workshop will take place in Bilbao, Spain and will be collocated with the European Conference on Model-Driven Architecture (ECMDA) http://www.ecmda-fa.org/. The duration of the workshop is one day (11th July, 2006). Submission Information: ----------------------- We invite submissions in two categories: * full papers of up to 15 pages presenting mature research results * short papers of up to 8 pages for work in progress research in Springer-Verlag LNCS style. All submissions will be peer-reviewed by at least three reviewers. Submissions should be sent in PDF format by email to mailto:SMMDA06@computing.dcu.ie. The publication of the proceedings is currently under negotation. Please check this Web page regularly for updates. For any enquiries, please email mailto:SMMDA06@computing.dcu.ie.
