Call for papers SWAP 2005

Greetings all!
here is a revised CfP for the Semantic Web Application and Perspective
event.

This is a slightly atypical and exciting opportunity: high quality peer
reviewed papers but *free* attendance (thanks to 6FP and W3C italian
office support). So expect a lively audience with real world hackers
(and underfunded ph.d students) who would otherwise be cut out by the
high attendence fee of classic conferences. Fun! :-)

  SEMANTIC WEB APPLICATIONS AND PERSPECTIVES (SWAP)

INTRODUCTION
------------

The Semantic Web is currently one of the most interesting and
ambitious technological challenges. The Semantic Web is a vision: the
idea of having data on the web defined and linked in a way that they
can be used by machines - and hopefully by people as well - not just
for display purposes, but for automation, integration and reuse of
information across various applications.

This project has already attracted a lot of attention and investments,
as proved by the interest it got in the VI Framework Programme of the
European Commission. In particular, the goal of providing semantics
and automated reasoning capabilities to the Web involved research in
many areas, SUCH as Artificial Intelligence, Databases, Software
Engineering, Distributed Computing and Information Systems. After
years of international efforts, the core concepts and philosophy of
the Semantic Web are still a matter of debate, and a lot of research
and implementation work needs to be done in order to prove and exploit
the great potential of the semantic web vision.

This two-day workshop aims at creating the possibility for a meeting
and a debate between Italian and international researchers on Semantic
Web.

AUDIENCE
--------

The workshop aims at being the Italian meeting table for researchers,
developers and interested people. However, contributions and
participants from other countries are expected and very welcome.

TOPICS
------

The workshop will cover theoretical, practical and implementational
issues on Semantic Web. The following is a partial list of topics of
interests:

 * Semantic Web for e-business, e-science, e-government, and e-learning
 * Languages, tools and methodologies for representing and managing
   Semantic Web data
 * Robust and scalable knowledge management and reasoning on the Web
 * Ontology creation, extraction, and evolution
 * Ontology mapping, merging, and alignment
 * Database technologies for the Semantic Web
 * Semantic Web middleware
 * Machine learning and human language technologies for the Semantic Web
 * Semantic Web services
 * Tools and Methodologies for Semantic Web Agents
 * Semantic Web Trust, Privacy, Security and Intellectual Property Rights
 * Semantic web technology for collaboration and cooperation
 * Semantic multimedia
 * Semantics in peer-to-peer systems and grids
 * Searching, querying, visualizing and interpreting the Semantic Web
 * Evaluation of semantic Web techniques
 * Languages, Tools and Methodologies for Semantic Web Data
 * Large Scale Knowledge Management
 * Data Semantics
 * Knowledge Portals
 * Semantic Brokering
 * Semantic coordination, integration, matching and interoperability
 * Semantic Web Mining
 * Semantic Information Retrieval
 * Visualization and Modelling
 * Semantic Web Personalization
 * Systems of collaborative annotation
 * Systems of annotation extraction
 * Applications of Semantic Web technologies
 * Presentation and discussions of application scenarios

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
-----------------------

We encourage submissions from researchers and practitioners in
academia, industry, government, and consulting. Students, researchers
and practitioners are invited to submit an abstract (max. 1000 words)
describing their work. Abstracts must be in English. Accepted formats
are Postscript and PDF. Abstracts must be submitted electronically at
the address: swap05-info@dit.unitn.it

Accepted contributions will be included in a volume of working notes
and distributed in a CD with ISBN. Papers must be formatted according
to the IEEE Computer Society Press Proceedings Guidelines (see
instructions on http://www.computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm).

The workshop working notes and the CD will be distributed to
participants.

IMPORTANT DATES
---------------

15-16 December 2005     SWAP-2005

LOCATION/REGISTRATION
---------------------

Participation to the event is free. The event will take place at the
Centro Congressi Panorama, Sardagna (Trento), a beautiful location in
the surroundings of Trento, which can be reached by car or by cable
car ("funivia").

We invite participants to do a preliminary registration, using the
